Library
The mission of the Dr.D.Y.Patil College of Ayurved and Research Institute library is to provide college students with the information they need to achieve their highest academic potential and help them acquire research skills necessary for lifelong learning. To support teaching faculty and administrative staff and to participate in cooperative information exchange within the wider library/educational community.
Infrastructure facilities
The library is housed in the first floor of our college building, specially planned for the purpose. It is designed to provide comfortable reading accommodation in abundant light, air and pleasant atmosphere.
It is adequately equipped with specially designed furniture. The area of library is about (2808.75sq.ft.). It has spacious study hall with separate reading arrangements for teaching staff.
There is a separate space made for periodical and newspapers.
Special arrangement is made for staff members, library processing room and computer section.
Automation and Services
From February 2008, the library has started automation work with SLIM 21 library integrated Software developed by Algorithms. Library h as six terminals with OPAC facilities for searching and locating books and journals meant for students’ use. These PCs can be used by students for their Project work, Dissertation etc. Students and Faculty can search the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) and access library services via the computer network in College Campus. Since February 2008 Library automation work has been started and completed on June 2008 and Bar-codes also labeled. Library has starting circulation service from 01stJuly 2008.
Library Membership
The bonafide students of Dr.D.Y.Patil College can only become a member of the Library. To become a member of the library, students have to fill the form available in library or download the form(s) from College OPAC [link is established in Library Profile Section of OPAC]. Each student paying the deposit (which is refundable) in bank will be issued on reader card, which is not transferable.
Teachers by default are members of the college Library, however they have to fill the form and register themselves in the library.
Software and Hardware in Library : For Teaching – Learning and Library Management
The Services of the library contribute significantly to the learning process, particularly e-learning process. With changing learning environment in recent years and to promote the use of latest technology in accessing information, the library developed good infrastructure. Library all PCs are with latest computer configuration. Computer essentials are installed and connected with LAN, Intranet and SIFY Broad Band Internet.

LIBRARY AS LEARNING RESOUCRE CENTRE
Library is opened for 8.30hours a day including 1st and 4th Saturday. It opened on Sundays and Holidays during Annual Exams to access and use of the library resources for all college academic community. It is computerized and Intranet facility to access the library catalogue.
- Since 2008, Library all terminals are with Internet facility to mine the information from different websites and subject gateways. Reprographic facility also extended in library.
- Library is having a very good collection of books and journals to cater the needs of the students and teachers. Library has over 8138 + volumes in its collection.
- College subscribes over 31 periodicals. Among 22 are journals and others are magazines.
- Register is maintained to ensure the use of library books/CDs/DVDs/ and Internet. New arrivals are displayed on ‘New Arrival Cupboard’ with glass body. List of the same also displayed on Library Notice Board.
- Library Internet facility is used by students and faculty everyday. Internet browsers’ register is maintained in Library. Due to heavy use of internet, students are requested to use 20 minutes to 30 minutes per sit to extend facility to all.
- Library services are computerized. Circulation section is automated with library management software i.e. SLIM 21.
- Library has advisory committee to exercise general directions, control, supervision and guidance over the affairs of the library.
- On an average 5 faculty visit library per day.
- On an Average 100 students visit library per day.
- Library display the new arrival list on library notice board and books on New Arrival Cupboard to encourage the Students and Teachers to read.

MANAGEMENT OF LIBRARY AND INFORMATION SERVICES
Library functions on Monday to Saturday on all working days except 2nd & 4th Saturday. During annual exams it works on Sundays and holidays also.
- Library is working from 8.30 am to 5 pm. To use the library before and after the class hours.
- Library has an Advisory Committee. It exercises general direction, control, supervision and guidance over the affairs of the library.
- Library is at the centre of the college premise which is accessible easily and quickly for students and office. It has very good infrastructure in all respects.
- The seating capacity of the users is moderate. 100:12 seating capacity of the Students and Faculty respectively.
- Library is connected with generator facility as there is no electricity failure in Navi Mumbai. Library never faced electricity problem. Library has data backup facility.
- Library periodically cleans the racks and resources. Everyday floors are washed with phenyl-water to avoid insects and to maintain cleanliness in the library. Periodically library gets insecticides.
- Library has 06 computers and dedicated server with Internet facility. Students are using 02 computers and staff has one computer exclusively for their study and research work. Other computers are for Library routine work.
- Library fully automated for the year June 2008.
- University supports the Library to enrich the resources and infrastructure.
