DR. D.Y.PATIL COLLEGE OF AYURVED & RESEARCH INSTITUTE
This is the foremost Ayurvedic College in Maharashtra where the medium of instruction is English with an intake capacity of 100 students and has one of the best Herbal gardens in India with a unique Greenhouse installed in an area of 10,000sq. ft. It also has a 300 bedded hospital with four full fledged operation theatres. Attached to this is a well equipped teaching pharmacy with modernized high-tech machines as per GMP norms.Medicinal plants play a major role and constitute the backbone of Ayurved. For the purpose of demonstration and educating the students as well as the General public, a Herbal Garden has been developed over 87120 sq.ft. of land with distinct Green house which exhibits varieties of plants on aesthetically designed beds maintained by latest fogging system .There are approximately 319 species and 4922 number of plants.
The Institute has 14 Departments including Sharir Kriya ( Physiology), Sharir Rachana (Anatomy), Sanskrit Samhita Siddhant (Basic Principles), Dravyaguna ( Pharmacognosy and Pharmacology), Rasashastra ( Pharmaceutics), Rognidan ( Pathology), Kayachikitsa ( Medicine), Shalya tantra ( Surgery), Shalakya ( ENT), Stri-rog Prasuti tantra ( Gyneac), Kaumarbhritya tantra ( Balrog) etc.Faculty comprises of well qualified Post graduates from well known Institutions. Associated to this college is a 300 bedded hospital with four operation theatres i.e. O.T. for Ophthalmic, Gynaecology, Labour O.T. and Minor O.T. with all modern amenities. Special Panchakarma therapies including Emesis, Purgation, Medicated enema, Bloodletting etc. are conducted on regular basis taking into consideration the nature of the disease and constitution of the person. The hospital has an exclusive O.P.D. of Dentistry which is not seen in any other Ayurvedic college. A holistic approach including Yoga and Naturopathy with Physiotherapy is followed. The patients are provided with the medicines prepared in the Pharmacy attached to the hospital. The medicines are prepared in accordance to the classical literature as per GMP norms under strict supervision of highly qualified faculty members. The Pharmacy is equipped with High-Tech modernized Machineries like Pulverizer, Pounding Machine, Capsule filling machine etc. To ensure quality control there is also R & D section to test purity and standard of raw material and Final Products.
The syllabus of Ayurvedacharya ( B.A.M.S.) has been developed under the supervision of Prof. Vd. Deodatta Bhadlikar, Dean of Dr. D.Y.Patil college of Ayurved & Research Institute in consultation with the faculty and concerned Heads of the Departments and further scrutinized by the academic section.

REGULATION FOR THE AYURVEDACHARYA(BACHELOR OF AYURVEDIC MEDICINE & SURGERY ) PROGRAMME
2) AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF B.A.M.S.DEGREE COURSE:
Ayurvedic education should aim at producing graduates of profound scholarship having deep basis of Ayurved with scientific knowledge in accordance with Ayurvedic fundamentals with extensive practical training who would be able and efficient teachers, research workers and Kaya Chikitsaks (Physicians) and Shalayachikitsaks (Surgeons) fully competent to serve in the medical and health services of the country.
3.1.1. Ayurvedacharya ( Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery ) shall be under the Faculty of Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM), New Delhi.
3.1.2. The name of the Degree Programme shall be Ayurvedacharya ( Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery i.e. B.A.M.S).
| 3.2.1. The candidate should have passed 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English with aggregate 50% marks & 40% for category of any statutory University, Board which confirm to specification approved by CCIM or any other equivalent qualification recognized by State Govt. and State Educational Board concerned with examination. Wherever provision and facilities for teaching Sanskrit as optional subject are not available at 12th standard ( Biology science group), the students with 12th standard ( Biology science group) be admitted and Sanskrit be taught in main course.ORUttar Madhyama of Sampurnanand Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya with Science and English. | |
| 3.2.2. The candidate who has completed the age of 17 years as on 1st October at the time of admission shall be eligible for the admission to the B.A.M.S. Programme. | |

The period of internship will be of 12 months, the six months of training be provided for clinical training under various departments in attached Hospital or the Hospital approved by Padmashree Dr. D.Y.Patil University & 6 months in Rural / Primary health centre.
The first I Professional course-18 months shall be occupied in the study of the Pre-clinical subjects, II Professional course-18 months shall be occupied in the study of the Para clinical subject & III Professional course- 18 months in clinical subject.
3.3.1. DEGREE TO BE AWARDED:
The candidate shall be awarded Ayurvedacharya ( Bachelor of Ayurvdic Medicine and Surgery) degree after completion of prescribed courses of study extending over the prescribed period and passing the final examination and satisfactorily completion of one year compulsory internship after the final examination.
3.3.2. MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION:
Sanskrit & English.
3.3.3.THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS TO BE ADMITTED:
The admission should be made strictly in accordance with the student-bed ration of 1:3 i.e. on the basis of 3 beds in the hospital attached with the college one student should to be admitted in an Ayurved college should be 20.
3.4.1. The selection of the students for the B.A.M.S Programme shall be strictly on merit basis of All India Entrance Test (A.I.E.T.) conducted by the Padmashree Dr. D. Y. Patil University, C.B.D., Belapur, Navi Mumbai.
3.4.2 The eligibility condition for A.I.E.T. shall be as indicated in regulation (3.2) above.
3.5.1 The aim & object of the B.A.M.S. curriculum is to educate & train student as a qualified Ayurved Physician will be socially acceptable & is able to work safely & effectively on patients in diagnosis, prevention & treatment.
3.5.2 The teaching & training Programme shall be evolving one & not merely process of acquisition of a large number of disjointed facts.
3.5.3 There shall be less emphasis on didactic lectures & major part of the learning time shall be devoted to demonstrations, group discussions, seminars, clinical work & conference.
3.5.4 The progress of the students shall be monitored through the seasonal examinations.
3.5.5 The students shall be encouraged to participate in group discussion & seminars to enable them to develop expression, character & personality & other qualities essential for an Ayurved graduate to serve the community & nation effectively.
3.5.6 The Practical work shall include the clinical work wherever applicable.
3.5.7 Internship: Every candidate after passing Final Year of B.A.M.S Examination will be required to undergo one-year compulsory rotating Internship.
3.6 FIRST PROFESSIONAL EXAMINATION
( To be held at the end of 1 ½ years)
i) The first professional period shall start from 1st day of July and end on 31st December next year. The examination shall ordinarily be completed by the end of December. The supplementary examination of First Professional shall be held within two months of declaration of result. The subsequent First Professional examination will be held every six months.
* Provided a student failed in more than two subjects shall not be eligible to keep the term. Only those students who passed in all subjects, shall be allowed to appear for Third Professional examination.
ii) The first Professional examination shall be held in the following subject:
1) Padarth Vigyan
2) Astang Hridayam ( Sutrasthanam)
3) Sanskrit
4) Ayurved Itihas
5) Rachana Sharir
6) Kriya Sharir
iii) The candidates before presenting themselves for this examination shall obtain a certificate of completing the prescribed course of theory and practical in the prescribed subjects of the First Professional examination.
iv) A Candidate fail in one or more subjects in examination shall be eligible to appear in supplementary examination.
3.7 SECOND PROFESSIONAL EXAMINATION:
( To be held at the end of three years)
i) The second Professional course shall start in January following the First Professional examination and the examination shall be held ordinarily in June of year after completion of three years.
ii) The second Professional examination shall be held after 1 ½ year of First Professional examination in the following subjects.
1) Rasa Shastra avam Bhaishajya Kalpana
2) Dravyaguna Vigyan
3) Agada Tantra, Vyavhar Ayurved avam vidhi Vaidyak
4) Roga Vigyan avam Vikriti Vigyanam
5) Charaka Samhita ( Purvardha)
6) Swastha vritta
iii) A Candidate must pass at least one subject for being eligible to appear in supplementary examination.
iv) The supplementary examination to second professional shall be held ordinarily in September and those who remain failed in one or more subjects in supplementary examination shall be eligible to appear in the subsequent Second Professional examination which may be held every six month.
v) Such candidates who pass First Professional examination in supplementary and register for the Second Professional afterwards shall not be allowed summer vacation and will have to undergo instructions during this period.
3.8 THIRD PROFESSIONAL EXAMINATION
( To beheld at the end of 4 ½ years-)
i) The final professional examination shall be held after three academic years after the first professional examination and shall comprise of the following subjects.
1) Prasuti Tantra Strirog
2) Kaumar Bhritya
3) Kaya Chikitsa
4) Shalya Tantra
5) Shalakya Tantra
6) Charak Samhita ( Uttarardha)
ii) If a candidate remain failed in one or more subjects in Final Professional examinations he/she shall be eligible to appear in those subjects in subsequent third Professional examination which may be held every six month.
a) The compulsory rotating Internship shall be completed in the teaching Hospital/ Ayurvedic hospital or the Hospital approved by Padmashree Dr. D.Y.Patil University- 6 months & Rural posting for the period of 6 months after passing the final examination.
b) On full completion of the internship as certified by the Dean on the recommendations of the authorities under whom the training was done, The candidate shall be eligible for the award of Ayurvedacharya (Bachelor of Ayurvedic medicine & surgery) Degree.
Following facts may be taken into consideration in determining class work in the subject:
1) Regularity in attendance
2) Periodical tests
3) Laboratory record, Note book and clinical history sheets as required.
4) The attendance in theory should be 75% & in practical 80% the record should be maintain by concern teacher / HOD / Dept. for final completion before commencement of each examination.
3.10 REGULATION AND SCHEME OF EXAMINATION ( BAMS COURSE)
There shall be the following three examinations leading to the degree of B.A.M.S. (Ayurvedacharya).
I) First Year B.A.M.S. (Ayurvedacharya) examination.
II) Second year B.A.M.S. (Ayurvedacharya) examination.
III) Final year B.A.M.S. (Ayurvedacharya) examination.
The examination shall be held twice year at such place and on such dates as per University decision time to time.
a) ELIGIBILITY FOR APPEARING FOR EXAMINATION :
i) No student shall be allowed to appear for University Examination unless he/she satisfies requirement of attendance i.e.75% attendance in theory lectures & 80% attendance in Practicals & Clinical Work is must for qualifying to appear for the examination.
ii) No student will be allowed to appear for the examination unless; he/she obtains 50% marks in Internal Assessments for each subject/course separately.
iii) The Dean should certify that the candidate appearing for University examination satisfies the condition stipulated in rules (3.10.ai) & (3.10.aii).
b) SCHEME OF EXAMINATION :
i) The Examination shall be conducted to assess whether the examinee has acquired thenecessary minimum skill & clear concepts of the fundamental essential to his/her day to day professional work.
ii)The student appearing for the University Examination shall submit application form with the prescribed examination fee. Incomplete application form submitted without prescribed fee or application form submitted after due date will be rejected & student shall not be allowed to appear for the examination.
iii) The students appearing for the University Examination should satisfy the conditions stipulated in Rule (3.10.a) above.
iv) Each theory paper will be of three hours duration & each practical /clinical examination shall not exceed three hours in duration.
v) Not more than 20 candidates in clinical or practical should be examined in one day.
c) RULES OF PASSING :
i) The examinee must secure a minimum of 50% marks in each head of passing in the end examination & 50 % marks in the aggregate. Theory & Practical/Clinical examination will be treated as separate heads of passing & two passing heads Theory + Internal Assessment. & Practical + Internal Assessment +Viva.
ii) A successful examinee passing an examination obtaining not less than 75% of the total marks prescribed in a subject shall be declared to have passed the examination with Distinction in that subject.
iii) A successful examinee passing an examination obtaining not less than 60% of total marks prescribed in a subject shall be declared to have passed the examination with 1st Class.
iv) The results the examination shall be declared within 45 days from the last practical/viva examination.
v) There shall be ATKT provision for any two subjects for 1st & 2nd year.
vi) The student shall not be allowed for final University examination of next year unless he/she has successfully passed the previous B.A.M.S. Examination.
d) i) A candidate obtained 75% marks in the subject shall be awarded distinction in the subject.
ii) A Candidate obtaining an aggregate of 75% in the following subjects shall be declared passed in final examination with honour:-
1) Padartha vigyan
2) Rachana Sharir / Kriya Sharir
3) Dravyaguna Vigyan / Rasa shastra
4) Kayachikitsa / Rog Vigyan
5) Shalya Tantra / Shalakya Tantra / Prasuti Tantra
iii) Only those candidates shall be considered for honour or distinctions who have passed the degree examination in the first attempt each part. As regards for distinction in subjects, only those will be qualified for distinction who passed in respective professional examination in the first attempt.
iv) The minimum passing marks shall be 50% in theory and practical separately in each subject.

4 Qualifications & Experience for teaching staff
a) Essential:- A degree in Ayurved from a University established by law or a statutory Board/ faculty/ Examining body of Indian Medicine or its equivalent as recognized under Indian Medicine Central Council Act, 1970
b) A Post-Graduate qualification in the subject/Specialty concerned included in the schedule to Indian Medicine Central Council Act, 1970
c )Adequate Knowledge of Sanskrit.
i. Experience:-
a. For the post of Professor: Total teaching experience of ten years in the subject is necessary out of which there should be five years teaching experience as Reader / Associate Professor or ten years experience as a Lecturer in the concerned subject wherever the post of Reader / Associate Professor do not exist.
b. For the Post of Reader:- Total teaching experience of five years in the subject is necessary out of which there should be three years teaching experience as Lecturer in the subject concerned.
c. For the Post of Lecturer: No teaching experience is required.
d. For the Post of Principal / Dean : The qualification and experience prescribed for
the post of Professor should be considered essential for the Post of Principal / Dean.
ii. Desirable:
a) Original published Papers/books on the subject.
Note:- If the Post-graduate qualification holders for the following subjects are not available, the Postgraduate qualification obtained in the subject as noted against the subject shall be admissible:-

APPOINTMENT OF EXAMINER IN AYURVED:
No person other than approved teacher with five years teaching experience in the concerned subject shall be considered eligible to the examiner.
5. RULES FOR A.T.K.T. ( ALLOW TO KEEP TERMS) SHOULD READ AS :
There ATKT provision for any two subjects for 1st & 2nd year. The student shall not be allowed for final University examination of next year unless he/she has successfully passed the previous B.A.M.S. Examination.
Each written paper of 90 marks shall be of 3 hours duration .
( Internal Assessment -10%)
75% attendance in theory lectures & 80% attendance in Practicals & Clinical Work is must for qualifying to appear for the examination.
8. FIELD PROGRAMME IN COMMUNITY AYURVED :
There shall be participation of students in health camps and projects in final year and during internship with a view to expose the students to problems of rural and semi urban areas.
9.GRACE MARKS FOR GETTING HIGHER CLASS
[ Bye – Laws of Padmashree Dr. D. Y. Patil University ]
A candidate who passes in all the subjects and heads of passing in the examination without benefit of either gracing or condonation and whose total number of marks fall short for securing second class / first class / first class with distinction, as the case may be , by marks not more than 1% of the aggregate marks of the examinations or up to 10 marks, whichever is less, shall be given required marks to get next higher class or grade, as the case may be.
Provided that, benefit of such grace marks shall not be given, if the candidate is failed to secure necessary passing marks in the aggregate head of passing as prescribed in the examination concerned.
Provided further that, benefit of such gracing shall be given to the candidates for such examination(s) only for which provision of award of class has been prescribed.
Grace marks for passing in each head of passing ( theory / practical / oral / sessional ) in Internal and External examinations.
a) The candidates shall be given benefit of grace marks under this bye-laws only for passing in each head of passing ( theory / practical / oral / sessional ) in Internal and External examinations as follows;

Provided that , the benefit of such gracing shall be subject to 1% of aggregate marks in that examination.
Provided further that, the benefit of gracing of marks under this bye – laws , shall be applicable only if the candidate passes the entire examination ( end or semester as the case may be )
b) In case of the professional courses gracing rules under this Bye – Laws shall be concurrent with the rules of respective central council.
Condonation
If the candidate fails in only one head of passing, having passed in all other heads of passing, his deficiency of marks in such head of passing may be condoned by not more than 1% of the aggregate marks of the examination or 10% of the total number of marks of that head of passing in which he is failing, whichever is less. However , condonation, whether in one head of passing or aggregate of passing shall restricted maximum upto 10 marks only.
Condonation of deficiency of marks be shown both on the ledger and statement of marks in form of asterisk and the Bye-laws number.
PRE – DEGREE COMPULSORY INTERNSHIP TRAINING SCHEME
“Aims & Objects”
Fresh student of Ayurved should acquire both theoretical & practical knowledge& should pass the examination in all concerned subject during their under graduation.
Before entering the vast field of general practice or in Medical & health services, a student should acquire the art, skill & technique regarding medical services to be rendered to mankind, he/she should necessarily be exposed to field work.
For the very purpose the scheme of post – examination & pre – degree internship should be completed by every fresh graduate before getting the degree.
Internship is a phase of training wherein a candidate is expected to conduct actual practice of medical and health care and acquires skills under supervision so that, he/she becomes capable of functioning independently.
1.
a) Internship training should preferably be carried out in the hospital of the college from where the students have passed their final examination.
b) If it is not possible to accommodate all the students, internship may be permitted to carry out in the hospital of the State/Central Government or any Municipal Corporation or in hospital/ recognized by the University for the same purpose. In such case the Incharge of the Hospital & the concerned Dean will regulate the training.
c) A student is allowed to carry out internship in the hospital of any other recognized Ayurvedic College, if permitted by the Dean of the College & Registrar of Padmashree D.Y. Patil University.
d)All the appointments should be made by the Dean on merit & on first come first served basis.
2. Immediately after the declaration of the results of Final Year Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery (B.A.M.S.) Examination, the successful students should submit their application in prescribed forms to the Dean of College not later than 10 days from the date of declaration of the result. The Dean will make the posting or appointment in the Hospital of the college in the first instance. When it is not possible to accommodate the postings of all students, then the posting should be made to other hospital in consultation with the Incharge of that Hospital.
3. It will be binding on the Intern to follow the code of conduct prescribed by the Institution/ University/Government for the regulation of the conduct of a Ayurved student in the state of Maharashtra strictly. Breach of code of conduct/discipline by a candidate shall disqualify him/her from perusing Internship Training Programme for a period as may be specified by the Institution/ University in such case/s.
4. After passing the final B.A.M.S examination every candidate will require to undergo compulsory rotational internship to the satisfaction of the Dean & University for a period of 12 months so as to be eligible for the award of the degree of Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery (B.A.M.S) & permanent registration. The University will issue a B.A.M.S Passing Certificate on declaration of the result of Final B.A.M.S examination to the successful candidates.
5. Maharashtra Council of Indian Medicine (MCIM) will issue provisional registration to the candidate on production of the B.A.M.S passing certificate. The provisional registration will be for a period of Internship only. In the event of shortage or unsatisfactory work, the period of provisional registration & compulsory rotating internship may be suitably extended by the appropriate authorities.
6. The intern will be entrusted with clinical responsibilities under direct supervision of concerned H.O.D./Medical Officer. They will not be working independently.
7. Intern will not issue a medical certificate or death certificate or a medico – legal document under their signature.
8. Completion Certificate:
On satisfactorily completion of the internship, the Dean i.e. Head of the Institution will forward a certificate that, the intern has satisfactorily completed his/her Internship to the University & then University in turn will issue the final completion certificate to the Intern.
9. Training of Intern will be supervised and controlled by the Dean of the Institute.
10. Not withstanding any rules contained in this scheme, the University reserves the right to take any action against it, without assigning any reason or justification for the same.
11. The University reserves the right to make amendment or to alter these rules as a whole, if required.
Guidelines for training Programme
1. Training of the Interns during the period of Internship will be regulated by the Dean and Medical Officer of the Hospital where an intern is undertaking his/her Internship.
2. The Intern will be entrusted with the clinical responsibilities under the control and Supervision of senior medical officers only.
3. The intern should be given as much as possible clinical work in each department.
4. The training in the Hospital will include case taking, evaluation of symptomatology, investigations, the sampraptivignyan and differential diagnosis, and the management especially through Ayurved.
5. For the above purpose all Interns should be exposed to training in different department as follows.
- Total Period of Internship will be = 1 year (After passing B.A.M.S.)
- The distribution of 1year Internship will be as follows:

b) 6 months – Rural Posting
i) 3 Months – Civil Hospital/Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC)/Navi Mumbai Municipal
Corporation (NMMC)/Bombay Municipal Corporation (BMC).
ii) 3 Months – Primary Health Centre (PHC)/Rural Hospital (RH).
1. Department of Kayachikitsa & Panchakarma – 2 Months :-
a) All routine work such as case taking, investigations, diagnosis and management of Common diseases.
b) Treatment of allergic manifestation and management of Anaphylactic shock.
c) Routine clinical pathological work e.g. Hemoglobin estimation, Haemogram, urine analysis and microscopic examination, blood parasites, sputum examination, stool examination etc. Interpretation of laboratorial findings and clinical findings.
d) Training in routine ward procedures such as:
Panchakarma procedures and Techniques.
Administration of Injection.
Intravenous Infusion and blood Transfusion.
Lumbar Puncture.
Abdominal and Thoracic Paracentesis.
E.C.G. recordings/PFT/EEG/USG/Stress Test / 2D Echo, Colour Doppler Procedures.
Collection of Blood samples for pathology etc.
2) Department of Shalya Tantra – 1 Month:-
a) The Intern should be trained to acquaint with the diagnosis and management of common surgical disorder.
b) Management of certain surgical emergencies such as shock, acute abdomen & others.
c) Practical Implementation of aseptic and antiseptic techniques, sterilization etc.
d) The Intern should be involved in pre-operative and post-operative management.
e) Practical use of Anesthetic techniques and use of anesthetic drugs.
f) The Intern should work in casualty unit as far as possible and should be made acquainted with medico legal problems.
g) Radiological procedures, Clinical interpretation of X-ray, I.V.P, myelograms etc.
h) Surgical procedures and routine ward techniques :
Suturing of fresh cut.
Dressing of wounds, Burns, Ulcers etc.
Incision of abscesses.
Incision of cysts.
Venesection etc
3) Department of Shalakya Tantra – 1 Month:-
a) The Intern should be trained for diagnosis & management of common ophthalmic & ENT Surgical disorders.
b) Management of certain emergencies such as epistaxis & others.
c) Practical implementation of aseptic & antiseptic techniques, sterilization etc.
d) The Intern should be involved in pre-operative & post-operative management.
e) Practical use of anesthetic techniques & use of anesthetic drugs.
f) Sac Syringing, Tonometry, Refraction, Wax removal, Auroplasty, fundoscopy, Removal of foreign bodies from eye, nose, ear & throat.
g)The Intern Should be involved in Pre-Operative, Post –Operative Management.
h)Radio graphical procedures, clinical interpretation of X-ray, PNS, Mastoid & Polyp, orbit.
i) The Intern should be involved in Panchakarma Procedures regarding with Shalakya Tantra like Tarpan, Nasya & Shirodhara.
4) Department of Strirog & Prasuti Tantra: - 1 Month:-
a) Anti-natal and Post –natal problems and their remedies, antenatal and post natal Care.
b) Management of normal and abnormal labours.
c) Antenatal and Post-natal emergencies.
d) Minor obstetric surgical procedures etc.
e) Training of Panchakarma Procedures – Sthanik Snehan, Swedan, Basti, Uttarbasti.
f) The Intern should be involved in – Pre Operative & Post Operative Management.
Dressing,
Suture removal,
Catheterization,
g) Collection of Blood.
h) The Intern should be trained for – Radiological Procedures.
HSG.
USG.
X-ray interpretation.
5) Department of Kaumarbhritya: - 1 Month:-
a) All routine work such as Kaumarbhritya case taking, diagnosis, and management of common Kaumarbhritya diseases.
b) Examination of new born.
c) General care of new born.
d) Training of intern for developmental assessment of child.
e) Training of Intern for Anthropometric Measurements.
f) The Intern should be trained for vaccination.
g) Training of various panchkarma procedures in Kaumarbhritya patients, like Pindasweda, Basti etc.
Family Welfare and Community Health and National health Programme:-
a) Various community based health activities and health programme.
b) National programme of health education, personal hygiene & nutrition, family welfare etc.
c) Control communicable diseases e.g. Tuberculosis, Leprosy, Sexually transmitted diseases and other communicable diseases.
d) Control of diseases adopted in national health Programme e.g. malaria, filaria, TB, Leprosy, Blindness etc.
e) Immunization Programme -Triple antigen, cholera, typhoid Vaccine, B.C.G., OPV etc.
Medico legal Aspect: Such as issuing unfit and fitness certificates, death certificates, Court Procedures & others.
Maintenance of Record:-
1. Each Intern will have to maintain a detail record of minimum 10 cases in each Department during his/her internship duly signed by the H.O.D. / Medical Officer. The Record should be completed in all respect such as case taking, clinical examination, Investigations, evaluation of symptomatology and samprapti vigyan, treatments and follow ups.
2. Intern should be required to carry out any selective assignment, if given to him/her by the Medical officer/Lecturer/Reader/Prof/ Deputy MS/ MS, In-charge of the hospital.
3. Concerned Medical officer will supervise the training Programme, record work of Intern and will make a report on the effect to the Medical Superintendent or in-charge of the hospital.
Rural Area – 6 Month OR 3 months Civil Hospital & 3 months PHC OR Rural Hospital OR BMC/Thane Municipal Corporation/Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation/Periphery Hospital, BMC/TMC/NMMC Thane/Rural Hospital :
6 months – Rural Posting
i) 3 Months – Civil Hospital/Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC)/Navi Mumbai Municipal
Corporation (NMMC)/Bombay Municipal Corporation (BMC).
ii) 3 Months – Primary Health Centre (PHC)/Rural Hospital (RH)
Rules for internship training -Rural Programme
1. The intern should join immediately to the center, which is allotted to him/her by the Authority. The joining report from the Medical Officer/In-charge of Centre or Hospital Or PHC should be sent immediately to the Dean of the college.
2. After completion of the duration, the intern should receive the completion Certificate from the respective authority i.e. Medical Officer / In-charge of Centre or In-charge of RH/NMMC/TMC/BMC.
3. He/She should submit the application of casual leave to the Head/In-charge of the department where he/she is working. Head/In-charge is supposed to enter the leave on his/her progress card immediately.
4. Application of the leave should be immediately submitted to the Dean of the College concerned.
5. After the completion of the duration of internship at Rural area primary health centre, the Completion certificate signed from M.O./In-charge of Centre OR Hospital should be submitted to the Dean of the college. (duly signed and stamped.)
6. Dean of the college will govern authorities of the above rules.
1. Rural life and rural health :
The intern should observe the following plans in connection with rural health and Development:
I) Prevention of filarasis.
II) Prevention of Streerogs – ANC (Family Planning)
III) Use of pit latrines etc.
IV) At least 2 families should be trained for Cleaning of premises.
2. Diagnosis and treatment of common diseases:
The intern should examine patients coming to the center or dispensary and should
Keep record of the patients regarding diagnosis and treatment given to them.
3. Administration of the PHC Centre.
i) Administration of the PHC should be studied and should be maintained the record of the same.
ii) He/She should be acquainted with the routine work of the medical / Para medical
Staff of PHC so that they should be always in contact with the staff in this
period of 3/6 months.
iii) He/She should be familiar with work of maintaining the register e.g. daily patients
Register, family planning register, surgical register, to take active part in
Government’s/ corporations different scheme/ Programmes.
iv) He/She should participate in activities in different national health programmes of Government of India.
4. Family welfare, anti-natal and post natal and maternal welfare programme :
i) Ten cases of ante-natal should be recorded, frequent examination, active immunization should be recorded.
ii) Minimum 3 deliveries should be conducted.
iii) Post – natal care of mother, neonatal care e.g. cord infection, Nutrition of new born (At least 10 patients)
iv) Vaccination Programme – 10 infants, development stages of infants with their nutrition, proper guidance regarding breast feeding.
v) Family welfare Programme – 5 cases.
vi) To promote the couples for family Planning Programme.
vii) To encourage the people to use the different Family Planning devices e.g. Copper -T, Condoms, Oral Contraceptive Pills etc.
5. Preventive diseases and Preventive measures:
Prevention and vaccination of at least for 50 cases of Diphteria, Tetanus, Whooping cough, cholera. He/She should participate in national Vaccination Programme at least for 100 cases of children etc.
6. Diagnosis and Management of following chronic diseases:
i) Tuberculosis
ii) Leprosy
iii) Diabetes Mellitus
iv) Cardiac diseases
v) Skin diseases
vi) Malaria
vii) Filaria
viii) Jaundice
1.a) The student desirous of transfer to another college for doing Internship training programme may apply within 15 days from the date of declaration of final year result to the University in the prescribed form along with the fee prescribed by the University. [i.e. Rs. 2000.00 ( Rs. Two Thousand only.)]
Criteria for transfer:
1. As per CCIM Regulation of BAMS, Intern will be permitted to complete all parts of Internship at approved/ recognized Ayurved Institute / College by CCIM / MCIM..
2. The student will have to apply for NOC to Parent College and University and also NOC From receiving college and University where he / she wants to get internship transferred.
3. Maximum 5% of total intake capacity of that college (outgoing and incoming) will be entertained for transfer. Out of total transfer 4% will be kept for regular and 1% for repeater batch.
4. The parent college will forward the application with NOC of relieving and receiving College & University to Padmashree Dr. D.Y.Patil University, Navi Mumbai and the University authority will finalize the cases strictly on the basis of the merit.
5. The college to which the intern is transferred will have to complete the programme as per the guidelines including skill test / performance of the parent college.
6. The parent institution will then receive the Internship Completion Certificate from that college and will forward the same to Padmashree DR. D. Y. Patil University for the award of degree.
7. Students, desirous to transfer can apply to the University. However he/she should start his/her Internship at the parent college and should wait till he/she gets permission from the University, he/she should first complete the subject or allied posting which he/she is doing and then avail of the transfer. Those subjects in which he/she has completed prescribed period will be considered for the final completion. Part completion will not be considered.
8. The transfer of candidate will be permitted only within the country. However, if a candidate desires transfer outside the country, such a transfer may be permitted subject to the condition that, it shall be his/her responsibility to execute his/her training in an institution approved by CCIM / MCIM by getting an NOC from CCIM/MCIM. The Institute in which the intern will be taking transfer should be recognized by the concerned authority of that country. An NOC of the concerned authority and institution is also required. The parent college will forward the application with NOC of relieving college and CCIM/MCIM to Padmashree Dr. D. Y. Patil University, Navi Mumbai and the University authority will finalize the applicants strictly on the basis of the merit.
Merit to be considered:
a) The application for transfer of intern shall be considered and decided strictly on the basis of the merit as follows:
1) Aggregate marks obtained at the final B.A.M.S. Examination.
2) No. of attempts at Final B.A.M.S. Examination.
1% marks will be deducted per attempt from aggregate marks of final B.A.M.S.
3) In case of tie, combined marks of I, II & III B.A.M.S. to be considered.
4) Elder to be preferred over younger.
b) The students desirous of transfer from another college to our college for doing internship
Training programme may apply to the University in the prescribed form available on the
Web site of the University. An NOC of the relieving college & university, receiving college & university (for both transfer within & outside country). In addition, a NOC of CCIM/MCIM, and concerned authority in case of institution outside the country has to be submitted along with the application form.
The University decision will be final; the externs will have to abide by the rules and regulation of university. The applicant will have to pay the fees at beginning of the Internship as per the University norms.
c) Issue of Internship Completion Certificate
a. The Intern will be issued internship completion certificate by the office of the Dean, only after completion of Rotating Internship programme satisfactorily.
b. The Dean will forward Annexure I, II & III along with attested Xerox copy of final year passing Certificate & Mark sheet of each student who have completed the compulsory rotatory internship of requisite period as per council and / or university norms under a covering letter addressed to the Registrar, Padmashree Dr.. D.Y.Patil University, Nerul, Navi Mumbai for issue of Internship Completion Certificate.
c.Rupees hundred crossed demand draft drawn in favour of Padmashree Dr. D. Y. Patil University payable at Nerul, Navi Mumbai.
d. In case of loss of internship completion certificate issued by the University, a duplicate copy will be issued by the University after submitting,
i) A crossed D. D. of Rs. 100/- drawn in favour of Padmashree Dr. D. Y. Patil University payable at Nerul, Navi Mumbai.
ii) An affidavit stating the loss of internship completion certificate.
iii) Attested Xerox copies of final year mark sheet and passing certificate.
e. Incomplete proposals will not be processed.
