Department is established in April 2005 in college of Ayurved. This subject is deals with preventive , social medicine &  Yoga therapy.Department has 1 professor .1 reader  2 lectures with PG epuivalent degree and have very good Academic profile. One of our departmental faculty member is apointed as Yoga University Co- ordinator.

Student profile- This year we have 92 students in the SYBAMS class in which there are 26 Male & 68 Females. Most of them are from middle class & Upper middle class families from various states of India. The selection of the students is through common entrance test conducted by Dr.D.Y.Patil University. The medium of teaching is English.

The curriculum followed by institution is sanctioned by CCIM . Suggestions & addition of  various updated points are revised in Board of Studies. Latest revised syllabus was done in Sept 2008

Trend in the success rate of student is 97%

Departmental library books are 69, Health Education charts-110, computer & internet facility, Models -30, Specimens are 130,

Modern Teaching methods in practice other than the lecture method

-Teaching work the teacher spends time to solve academic difficulties and to guide students, to prepare for seminars, tutorials and group discussion.

- LCD presentations help in rendering updated E knowledge

- Students are tested through seminars, tutorials, group discussion, quiz etc.

- Field visits are arranged for students & they have to maintain a journal which is assessed regularly. Students were taken to milk dairy, water filtration plants, Nisorgapchar center , Leprosy center , Sewage Disposal plant, Family planning centre & Primary health centre there in to study the various aspects of Swasthvritta.

Enhancement of the learning resources during the past five years

                       We oftenly update the resources. Intranet facility is being activated. New updated , syllabus oriented charts & models are introduced. In year 2008, we have purchased Naturopathy instruments in the budget allotted.

Departmental staff attended a Faculty Development Program arranged by Dr.D.Y.Patil Institute of  Bussiness Management Studies on 20 ^th May 2008.  Department has attended total 12 National/International seminar &  organized one national seminar on “Ahar” in 2007.Department has arranged Special yogasana clinics  for public of charitable valueOne of our faculty  has delivered  lectures in United Breweries, Taloja on “Occupational Health”

 If research is a significant activity, the thrust areas of the department are the as follows

• Literary Research has to be emphasized  on various aspects of curriculum e.g Aahar varga, Dincharya etc

• Deparment had arranged a lecture series on “ Aahar ” on 12^th December 2007.

Plan of action of the department for the next five years

• We have well equipped Department of Swasthvritta as per CCIM norms with extension activitiy of special Yoga & Naturopathy clinic in Hospital . Future plans include consumption of Post graduate course in our subject.
