Department of Sanskrit Samhita Siddhant was established in oct. 2004 in the college to help improve the knowledge of Ancient Ayurvedic texts. Sanskrit samhita department has 1 professor . 2 associate professor & 2 lectures. All faculty members are post graduate and have very good Academic profile. One of Associate Professor is in the process of completing his Ph.D, Two Lecturers are M. A. (Sanskrit) Scholars.
Departments total intake in First Year is 100. Students are admitted after selection in AIET.exam.In First year total of 4 subjects (Ashthang Hriday, Padarth Vidnyan , Sanskrit, Ayurved Itihas) are taught by this department. One subject Charak Samhita Purvardha is in IInd Year and One subject Charak Samhita Uttarardh is related to IIrd Year. In year 08-09 ,60students got admission yet. Out of this male are 19 & Female are 41, Hindus are 44 & Muslim are 16. Most of students are from middle class family. Ours is the only department in Maharashtra whose medium of instruction is English.
This department fully contributed in additational changes. Department follow syllabus .which is prepared by C.C.I.M, But faculty registered some addition in curriculum 2 Syllabus according to modern exam. Faculty prepare new curriculum with some new additional point and submitted to be passed in BOS & Academic council.
Faculty of department is using modern teaching methods openly in Teaching as well as departmental seminars presentation group discussion etc. The main source of knowledge of department in library .Department library is regularly updated according to need. 92 Books are in library and regularly used by faculty and students. Department have one computer, OHP, LCD, Slide projector for better presentation for students. Department part also has one Room department in full of Charts, Modules, Project Work, and CDs for easily understanding the subjects to students.In last five year department is continuously in process of updation and has stablished models In this period no of books, Charts, Models .Department have been added has internet facility for obtaining latest knowledge.
4 Faculty members have attended the faculty development programmes. organized by Dr. D.Y.Patil Department of management. Maheshkumar Harit also attended ROTP at Jamnagar organized by Govt.of India for repress his knowledge. Department faculty regularly participated in extra academic activities like; Seminar, workshop etc. are as follows –
- National seminar on ‘Ahar’ organised by Departement of Swasthvritta. Attended by all faculty member on 12-12-2007 at was auditoriure of Padmashree Dr.D.Y.Patil University.
- The national seminar of nima and was anchor and chairperson of some of the scientific sessions.
- A seminar on ‘Shalya Chikitsa’on 07/7/08 organised by shalya dept. at Dr.D.Y.Patil College of Ayurved & Reserch Institute Nerul.
- Swadeshi Arogya Mela on 08/01/2004 to 13/01/2004 at Mumbai .
- Seminar on Diabetes on 12/01/2003 Convocation hall of Mumbai University.
- Workshop organized by vaigyanik & Takniki Sabadawali,Aayogya, Human Research Department Gov.Of India at Jamanagar, on 29/08/2003 to 30/08/2003 and same in 2007-08.
- Attended Re-orientation training progress sponserd by Dept. of Ayush, Ministry of halts & family welfare, Govt.of India new Delhi on 18/02/2008.
Succes rate of Department is 84%
Number of books in the departmental library is 68
Each Teacher of the department is very well aware about it .All the teachers are doing counseling for weak students extra class, guidance, regularly arranged by department. Department also used modern facility to simplify the subjects’ .Faculty also try to sort out some personal problem of the students by counseling. Department regularly organized one state level recital competition ‘Shlokamrut’ for the student to create interest in Sanskrit. From last year department also started lecture series .
Significants achievements of the department or faculty- One faculty member of the department has relised one audio cassette on shlokanjali.
Thrust areas of the department- Literally research in basic principles ,Medicine describes in text are in very true but modifications are required.
Yet Department has not start any research project but one or two projects are on primary stage has to finalized. Departments one of our faculty member has just complete his Ph.D. Research work.
Plan of action of the department for the next five years-
- Departments action plan for next five year is tribute to students welfare.
- Research project should be start as earliest.
- Continuation of Shlokamrut and lecture series every year.
- Affert to organize minimum one international or national seminar, workshop, Faculty devolopement progamme, ROTP,etc.
- PG programmes
Methods of continues student assessment.-Students regularly assesed by department. Department assess students by tutorial, viva, group discussion, brain storming questionnaires, gave project work assignments, charts, etc. There are two internal exam one preliminary exam and one final university exam in the end of academic year for assessment of the students.
