Department of Rog Nidan & Vikruti vigyan was established in April 2005 in college of Ayurved to help improve the educational standard in quality & assessment of Pathological investigation & method of diagnosis of Diseases. Currently Department has 1 professor & 2 lectures with PG epuivalent degree and have very good Academic profile.
This year we have 92 students in the SYBAMS class in which there are 26 Male & 68 Females. Most of them are from middle class & Upper middle class families from various states of India. The selection of the students is through common entrance test conducted by Dr.D.Y.Patil University. The medium of teaching is English & the students have very good command on the language. The students are highly efficient in academic as well as extra curricular activities.The syllabus is based basically on CCIM format, but department has created a creative ,more applied revised syllabus exclusively for Dr.D.Y.Patil University and updated time to time to make more towards Excellency ,with unique & interesting aspect students point of view, applied aspect of modern pharmacology has been included.
Department is following curriculum as per central council of Indian medicines, and regular addition and updates are done with the conservative medicine.

Modern Teaching methods in practice other than the lecture method
· Extra lectures with group discussions for the improvement of slow learner students
· Projects works are given to students
· Presentation of some topics by students
· Poster presentations for department as a compilation.
Learning resources- Department library contains 36 books with journals ,Computer with internet, The department has excellent infrastructure and is equipped with all the basic and many advanced facilities that are expected of a professional medical college department. Teachers participates in academic and personal counseling of students through Encouragement and guidance of students by both the Faculty was done to participate in poster and oral presentation as well as essay competition & Special instructions for students not performing well in viva. Also all faculty is working as mentor for 15 students each. ROTP programme at Jamnager during 26 Nov 2007 to 2 Dec 2008.Attended by by our one of the teaching faculty.
Success rate of student in the department is 97%
Plan of action of the department for the next five years.
- 1.Research project to establish etiology (Nidan)described in Ayurvedic text.
- 2. Research project to establish prodromal signs and symptoms poorvaroop of diseases described in Ayurvedic texts.
- 3.Research project to contribute to the Medical fraternity ,clinical presentation of diagnostic or different diagnostic importance described in Ayurvedic texts.
- 4.Research project related to Ayurvedic concepts of clinical examination and investigations described in Ayurvedic texts which would contribute to the conventional medicine.
- 5.Collaberation with pathology ,Microbiology, Biochemistry dept.of Pd.D.Y.Patil Medical college,Nerul for research projects.
- 6.Project for Ayurvedic contribution towords Malnutrional Medical problems. In remote tribal areas of Thane District.
- 7.Community service
a)Education of the people about etiological factors described in Ayurved.
b)Different projects of epidemiological studies.
- 8.To equip department for post graduate studies which would be undertaken for next academic year.
- 9.Musuem of Pathological organs .
- 10.Research projects on 1)HIV AIDS 2)OBESITY 3)LIFESTYLE DISORDER.
Methods of continuous student assessment
Departmental arranges Case presentation by the students to assess clinical skills.
Regular tutorials, home assignments & surprise tests are arranged. These provide excellent means to understand progress of the students in terms of examination of knowledge goals.
Terminal exams at the end of first & second term & preliminary examination during the third term are conducted. These examinations include theory, practical & oral examinations.
Students have to maintain a journal which is assessed regularly
