Rasa Shastra & Bhaishajya Kalpan department established in April 2005 in the college to help improve the educational standard of Agad tantra & Vyavahar Ayurved. Department deals with the study of various drug preparation method.Currently Department has 1 professor . 1 reader  & 2  lectures with PG as a higheshest qualification degree and have very good Academic profile.

           This year we have 92 students in the SYBAMS class in which there are 26 Male & 68 Females. Most of them are from middle class & Upper middle class families from various states of India. The selection of the students is through common entrance test conducted by Dr.D.Y.Patil University. The medium of teaching is English & the students have very good command on the language. The students are highly efficient in academic as well as extra curricular activities.

            Syllabus is updated timely. Changes are made in current syllabus. Some modern      topics are included in existing syllabus and modern tests of standardization are being taught to the students. Practically which are illustrative contributions to the subject.Small group works, project works and clinical pilot studies, projects are given to students to generate their interest in the syllabus.

              Modern teaching methods are implemented like use of OHP’s as well as LCD projectors for delivering lectures.  The department is well equipped with all advanced teaching aids. The departmental library comprises of 48 Reference books pertaining to the subject as well as modern pharmaceutical science. To update knowledge 2 computers  along with easy acess to internet has been installed.

The lab attached to the Department is well equipped .It consists of Instruments, chemicals, glassware necessary for Quality Control and regular basic standardization procedures.

There is also setup of teaching pharmacy having most of the major & minor machineries like pulverizer, grinders, Pill making, Tablet making, etc which is utilized by the students on regularly basis.

To enhance the practical approach of the students in Pharmacy procedures they are been frequently taken to Pharmaceutical Industrial Visits with in & out of the state Pharmaceutical Industrial. The teaching aids e.g. LCD, Projector, OHP, Audio-visual presentations are enhanced during last five years.

Participation of teacher in academic & personal counseling of students- Remedial classes are arranged for failed students, betterment exams are conducted to promote them to next Academic year. Parent meet of students poor in study are arranged frequently.

Personal counseling of students is arranged by the department so as to upgrade students having very poor attendance, decrement in examination results or sincerity in academics.

Success rate  of student  88% in the subject    

Research thrust areas of Department - Several areas of the subject are badly in need of research or the exploration in terms of modern sciences with specific regards to their mechanism of action & effects of their combinations with preparations in other pathies, toxicities of Rasavarga dravya. Therapeutic doses according to various disease are some of the examples.

ONGOING PROJECTS-Several proposals of Research Projects are under planning namely shodhan of visha dravyas, pharmacological properties of Guggulu according to various methods of Guggulu Shodhan, Analytical study of Rasasindoor and Shadaguna Balijarit Rasasindoor. Study of toxicities of Tamra Bhasma with in therapeutic doses.

Significant achievements of Department  -Teachers Guided workshop arranged by MUHS, Best Paper Presentation Award  and Best Teacher award to has been received to one of our departmental faculty is remarkable achievements of the faculty. Students Yogesh Tamhankar and Trupti Gawai Awarded for their Paper Presentation in State Level Seminar Hriday roga.

Plan of Department for next 5 years- The department is planning some research projects in above mentioned subjects. Department is planning to establish working Registered Pharmacy according to GMP norms. The action plan for the same is in process.

Method of student assessment - Student Assessment For one academic year, the students appear for 3 internal assessment Examination. The students which fail to excel average performance in 3 are subjected to Betterment examination by the college for each subjects.

- Departmental assessment of students is done by conducting tutorials after completion of every topic. Regular assessment on practical preparations along with journal records.

Any other highlight of Department.-Currently Department is running a pharmacy which is used as source for preparations used for OPD & IPD of the college hospital and for various research projects.
