Department of Agadtantra & Vyavahar Ayurved was established in 2005 in the college to help improve the educational standard of Agad tantra & Vyavahar Ayurved. This subject deals with knowledge of various medico legal aspects, Knowledge of fatal doses of varius poisons & it’s treatments.

Currently Department has 1 professor . 1 lectures with PG equivalent degree and have very good Academic profile.

Participation of teachers in academic activities other than teaching & research- One of the teaching faculty is  A Member of Grievance committee. (2008-09)  &  Member of Board of Studies of Ayurved faculty since year2006,  Presiding officer for conduction Examinations (2008-09), Head of Internal Assessment Committee.(2008-09).

This year we have 92 students in the SYBAMS class in which there are 26 Male & 68 Females. Most of them are from middle class & Upper middle class families from various states of India. The selection of the students is through common entrance test conducted by Dr.D.Y.Patil University. The medium of teaching is English & the students have very good command on the language. The students are highly efficient in academic as well as extra curricular activities.

               We have Central Academic Council of Dr.D.Y.Patil University where the important decisions related to the curriculum as well as any other issues related to students welfare are undertaken by the chairpersons of the Board of Studies of different faculties. The meeting is conducted twice in an year. In the last 5 years study curriculum of Ayurved faculty  was implemented four times.. Also time to time suggestions are demanded for further improvement.  The ultimate aim behind this is just to provide complete, full-fledged & updated knowledge to the medical students.

               In our dept we have- Departmental Library, Museum, Demonstration Room, Professor’s- Reader’s- Lecturer’s Rooms. Museum includes charts & models on different topics , Set of about 100 poisons, Set of About 125 weapons, Atlas containing photographs on different topics.Demonstration Room is there for conduction of practical. Adequate space area is there for Professor’s , Reader’s & Lecturer’s room.We have 1 computer, 1 OHP & central LCD which are very beneficial for us for improving our teaching techniques as well as for proper storage of departmental data.Other than lecture method we adopt- group discussions, seminars & Presentations by students. We are using OHP & LCDs for making the lecture much more interesting for the students. Every year the students are given projects like- preparation of charts, models, CDs, Compilations etc. Extra classes are taken for the students whose performance is poor in the class. Also test exams are taken time to time. Mentor is appointed for counseling.

Success rate of students in the Dept of  Agadtantra & Vyavahar Ayurved is about 99% up till now.

According to CCIM syllabus  &  need of subject we have 27 books in our Departmental Library.

we are planning various academic visits & training programmes for the students every year. Like- Post mortem training, Visit to the court, Visit to Forensic Science Laboratory, Visit to the toxicology museum of Haffkins Institute.

Proper Counseling is done for the students by the faculty  for Significance of the Subject & scope for the research in subject.

The thrust areas of research of the department are:

• Literary research
• Various antidotes of poisons
• Research on Poison science

Significant achievement of  department over last e years that  Department has prepared various informative models & charts which help the students for proper understanding of the subject. Department is fully fulfilled with various instruments & equipments according to CCIM norms.

Our Institute have provided us the facility for attending seminars/conferences/ROTP etc which are beneficial for faculty development. We have attended 2 National seminars.
